Review: Wallbanger by Alice Clayton

 Published: November 27, 2012
Publisher: Omnific Publishing
Format: eBook
My rating: 5/5 stars

Synopsis from Goodreads:

Caroline Reynolds has a fantastic new apartment in San Francisco, a KitchenAid mixer, and no O (and we’re not talking Oprah here, folks). She has a flourishing design career, an office overlooking the bay, a killer zucchini bread recipe, and no O. She has Clive (the best cat ever), great friends, a great rack, and no O.

Adding insult to O-less, since her move, she has an oversexed neighbor with the loudest late-night wallbanging she’s ever heard. Each moan, spank, and–was that a meow?–punctuates the fact that not only is she losing sleep, she still has, yep, you guessed it, no O.

Enter Simon Parker. (No, really, Simon, please enter.) When the wallbanging threatens to literally bounce her out of bed, Caroline, clad in sexual frustration and a pink baby-doll nightie, confronts her heard-but-never-seen neighbor. Their late-night hallway encounter has, well, mixed results. Ahem. With walls this thin, the tension’s gonna be thick…

In her third novel, Alice Clayton returns to dish her trademark mix of silly and steamy. Banter, barbs, and strutting pussycats, plus the sexiest apple pie ever made, are dunked in a hot tub and set against the gorgeous San Francisco skyline in this hot and hilarious tale of exasperation at first sight.

Wallbanger is a sensual, hilarious, and incredibly fun book that I very highly recommend! Alice Clayton sure knows how to write a sexy story filled with developed characters that will attach themselves to you and not let go!

The main character, Caroline, has such a strong and witty voice throughout the entire novel, and I just love her! I cannot tell you how many times I laughed out loud uncontrollably at something Caroline did or said. Her friends are equally as amusing and likable, and one of my favorite secondary characters just so happens to be Caroline's cat, Clive! Yes, Clive is a cat, and he is pretty darn awesome. He is involved in some of my favorite scenes in the book and his presence fits so well into the story!

The fun in this book truly begins on Caroline's first night in her new apartment, when she is surprised to hear her neighbor having some very loud, and very graphic, wall-banging coitus. Simon, her neighbor, keeps up his nightly activities until Caroline confronts him after her own sexual frustration and irritation gets the better of her. What happens next unfolds in a series of hot, funny, and swoon-inducing moments that make me absolutely adore this book!

Caroline and Simon start off not very fond of eachother, but it's not long before they form a tight bond and friendship that leads to so much more. These two have impeccable chemistry and hilarious banter that is snarky as well as tender at times. Simon can be as sweet as he is smoldering, but when he turns on his charm it is quite dazzling! Him and Caroline have some incredible sexy times that are written so well that you will need to fan yourself vigorously afterwards!

This book makes me smile for so many reasons, and I will definitely be re-reading it in the future when I need a healthy dose of romance and laughter.

  1. I used to have a friend who always complains about her neighbors and their loud lovemaking. I even stayed over several times to experience it first hand but I failed! It must be so funny, fascinating, disgusting, sexy and disturbing to hear other people having sex.
