Review: Radar Love (Ultimate Hustle) by Jason Z. Christie

Published: December 13, 2011
Format: eBook
Series: Ultimate Hustle
Genre: Adult Fiction, Adventure, Romance
My rating: 4/5 stars

Synopsis from Amazon:

Radar Love introduces you to Chris and Janique, two hard loving anti-heroes who are so in love, they'd rather rob stores and banks than spend their days apart.

It's all fun and games until they end up in connected prisons. Now it's up to Chris to get them out again, using only brutality, heroin, and a book by Tom Robbins... An epic love story, first in the Ultimate Hustle series.

*Special thanks to the author, Jason Z. Christie, for giving me the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.*

I've never read a book quite like Radar Love before, and that's one of the things I like about it. The two main characters in this story are criminals but they are written in such a way that it's impossible not to root for them. The author created smart and likable characters and dropped them in an interesting setting to make one of the most non-traditional love stories I've ever read! This novel is also very original and unpredictable--every chapter was a surprise.

Janique and Chris are two people in love who also happen to be in prison throughout most of the book. They end up locked up because of their history of armed robbery. Despite the fact that these two are all about breaking the law, I had no problem liking their characters because they never had intentions of hurting anyone--although they both prove what lengths they will go to in order to protect eachother--they just wanted to experience some excitement and adventure together while scoring some cash to live on since they couldn't stand working separate jobs and being apart all day. I also found it hard not to grow fond of some of the secondary characters in this book; like the couple's fellow inmates, who provided me with some humor and knowledge of prison life.

The story jumps back and forth between Janique and Chris' present state in prison and their past experiences together. Several of their shared memories are extremely intense, steamy and explicit. They clearly have a very strong emotional and physical bond, and they can't stand being apart for any amount of time--which is why Chris creates a master plan to break them out of prison and reunite them.

The end of the book was very hectic and pungent, and I couldn't read fast enough to uncover the fate of Chris and Janique. All I can say is that the entire story was so cleverly constructed and the ending was definitely no exception. I'd recommend this book to anyone looking for thrills, love, laughs, action, and originality!
